"Funke", a film of passion and quality cinema journey whose eloquent display of making PASTA a life long goal finding a new place in today's world. It's a story of the long traditions and skills and appreciation of PASTA - and an inspired chef, Evan Funke who is driven to improve his culinary loves and a story of inspiration and collaboration to carry on the traditions and benefits with the world. Directory Gab Tarablousy (Delicious Cinema) joined the world renowned Tastemade producers following Evan Funke with to Italy to study the techniques and goal to establish an LA restaurant (Felix Trattoria) in a very competitive market.

This journey to Italy had me recalling my roots to my childhood memories of making homemade pasta with my Italian ancestors and the way Funke, the chef and the film portrayed respect for the culture and those fighting to maintain the custom was very touching.

Funke is a story of food and has the 'food magic' we love to see. It is a wonderful story following the pasta as it relates to human lives in a touching and informative way following chef Evan Funke on his trials and tribulations. Hearing this film had the most talented filmmaker Gab Tarablousy directing and producing this story; it was with much anticipation for quality food magic and behind the scenes storytelling and he succeeded. I also enjoyed the techniques used in selecting pasta shapes on a black background and images of them lined up for display. The great editing techniques of Alex Emanuele are certainly evident as well.

Good luck to chef Evan Funke to continue this journey and the success of Felix. MyReelWorld was lucky to try his wonderful pasta and can tell you - the dining and food were as delicious and special as I saw in the film - and I appreciate it all more now that I have the history. Our fast paced world needs more film stories that bring more to the table - this one does in connecting food to culture and pride.

Shout out to LAFILMfestival for selecting films and LA Independent who provide platforms and support for we who value film making and the creativity of so many!
